    "You can metallise any smooth surface by spraying a nitric acid solution on it. After four or five sprays, it's like a mirror finish. Then you can put a lacquer on top to make it look like brass, steel, copper or whatever the required colour. It was a Hollywood process – I can't remember the technical term for it – but I introduced it to Pinewood." (Ken Adam)
